Kenwood
Vintage White Wine and Vintage Red
Classics In Tune With The Times
Kenwood
(Sonoma Valley), CA, July 1, 2010 - Kenwood
Vineyards has produced Vintage White Wine and Vintage
Red Wine since the 1970s, and while they always have offered
good quality and fine value, those virtues are now more important
than ever. The just-released 2009 Kenwood Vintage White Wine
and 2008 Kenwood Vintage Red Wine feature a new package that
highlights their Kenwood identity, and the palate-pleasing character
and budget-pleasing price today's consumers appreciate.
Because
Kenwood's Vintage White and Vintage Red Wines don't focus on
one specific grape variety, they enable Kenwood Senior Winemaker
Pat Henderson to select and blend lots from the winery's extensive
inventory to create wines of generous fruit and accessible style.
Typically these lots don't "fit" - for whatever reason
- in the Kenwood Vineyards wine of that grape variety, but in
the Vintage Wines, their quality is obvious. The 2009 Kenwood
Vintage White Wine brings together Sauvignon Blanc with a significant
percentage of barrel-fermented Chardonnay and a touch of Muscat.
The 2008 Kenwood Vintage Red Wine blends Zinfandel with small
amounts of Petite Sirah, Merlot and Sangiovese. Despite their
premium origins, the Kenwood Vintage White Wine and Kenwood
Vintage Red Wine remain great values - fine wines people can
afford to enjoy every day.
The
2009 Kenwood Vintage White Wine's nose melds fresh honeysuckle,
white peach and honeydew aromas with a dash of vanilla. White
peach and honeydew also dominate the light, lithe flavors. A
hint of sweetness on the palate is balanced by generous acidity,
resulting in a long, crisp finish. Appealing and versatile,
it is a white wine to enjoy chilled, either as an aperitif or
paired with casual fare. Only 8,200 cases of the 2009 Kenwood
Vineyards Vintage White Wine were produced, so fans should stock
up soon to avoid disappointment. It is available nationally
at a suggested retail of $9.00.
Delightful
aromas of fresh raspberry and strawberry in the 2008 Kenwood
Vintage Red Wine are accented by subtle white pepper and tar
complexity. The flavors are bright and forward: raspberry and
thimbleberry, with a hint of baking spices in the background.
This vivacious red stays smooth through its elegant finish,
even when lightly chilled. The 2008 Kenwood Vineyards Vintage
Red Wine is available nationally at a suggested retail of $9.00.
A total of 24,000 cases were produced.
